Frozen chicken rice. Good to add an egg if you eat it.

My name is Kimura and I live in the northern part of Tokyo! We are just before the Golden Week holiday in Japan. For some people, it will be a 10-day weekend. Now, where will everyone in Japan be traveling to? I, on the other hand, am hoping to get some work done before the holidays. So I will do my best this week! In such a busy time, I can’t spend much time on meals, so frozen foods come in handy. I have introduced various frozen foods on this blog so far.

Today, I would like to introduce you to this one.

Today I would like to introduce chicken rice.

If you search for “Chicken Rice” in English, you will find Singapore Chicken Rice, but in Japan, “Chicken Rice” is associated with red rice seasoned with tomato ketchup. The package says “Chicken Rice with Ripe Tomatoes” in Japan. The picture in the upper right corner of the package introduces the dish as “just put it on and you have an omelette rice. If you are interested in Japanese food, you probably know omelet rice.

The surface of omelet rice is covered with a baked egg, but there is rice inside. This rice is chicken rice.

In other words, this chicken rice is a frozen food that allows you to easily make omu-rice!
(It is also delicious eaten as it is)

    Let’s cook it!

Detailed cooking instructions are written on the back of the package.
To heat up 450 grams per bag,
    ・500w 7min 40sec
    ・600w 6 minutes 20 seconds

To heat up half a 225 gram bag
    ・500w 4 minutes 10 seconds
    ・600w 3 minutes 20 seconds
The specifications are given in 10-second increments, so don’t make a mistake. It also says how to cook it in a frying pan, but I think this frozen food in general tastes better warmed up in the microwave. Can anyone else sympathize with this?

Let’s take it out on a plate and observe. There is rice, chicken, and corn that is frozen to a crisp.

There are instructions to cover with plastic wrap when cooking in the microwave. This is so easy. Anyone can do it, so I’ll skip the details. All that is left is to put a cooked egg on top. As you can imagine, even I can do this easily.

I was confident in my ability to cook simple dishes, but when it comes to taking pictures for my blog, I fail. I am the type of person who is weak under pressure. lol Moreover, I failed at a very bad level.

But there is no difference in taste!

This is a product of a Japanese food manufacturer called Nichirei. This chicken rice has a large sales space in the frozen section of supermarkets. This leads us to believe that it is a popular product. The rice alone is tasty enough, and we hope that travelers in Japan will try it! Eat vegetables properly for your health, too.
